Ode to the Short Story

They were right. Entering into competitions is good for you. I can see how it could hone your skills. It gives you the push you need to get out there, and write. I would never have written my little story if it wasn't for the push of a competition.

Jane Austen's Portable Writing Box is an inspiration to all aspiring authors, showing us that in order to write beautiful novels, we don't need much. All the toys and trinkets are nice to have, but not a necessity when it comes to the craft.

Editing, or, A Hard Lesson Learnt

Would I do this again?  I’m not sure.  But I do know for certain, to establish right at the start what type of editing is being asked of me, or if I’m to be an alpha or beta reader, a copy editor, or all of the above.  And gosh, do I appreciate that it takes courage and bravery to give your hard fought words on the page to another, for them to pick at it, pull on those loose threads, and return it, a little broken, a little (or a lot) marked up.

Who will be my villain?

I’m in trouble, dear reader.
