Typewriter Bliss

This wonderful article below from The New York Times arrived in my inbox at the perfect time. I’d just spent a few days cleaning up an old manual typewriter to give to a friend, and it became, much to my surprise, an enjoyably soothing project. Aside from the spit and polish the body of the typewriter and carry case received, out came the cotton earbuds, a little ramekin of white spirits, and a very pleasant hour cleaning up the ‘slugs’ (IYKYK), behind the platen, and underneath the keys; many years worth of life’s detritus. A new ribbon, a fresh sheet of paper rolled in, an appropriate inspirational quote typed out for the young writer recipient, and it was good to go to a new home.

Long live the typewriter.

Enjoy the article.
